Born Ruffians is hosting the second annual Shondi Festoon on December 14th at the Danforth Music Hall.
I went to this show last year to celebrate this wonderful...but also slightly frightening holiday. The premise of the show is that their is a Shondi monster (aka. the doll in their latest music videos named Dorito), that is trying to ruin the holiday. But don't you worry, with enough screaming and music, the Shondi monster eventually leaves us alone to enjoy our night. Tickets are on sale today at 10am. You can purchase them here. Happy Shondi and hope to see you all there!

Indie88 is bringing the incredible Dizzy to the Mod Club on April 16th, 2019. If you haven't already bought yours, then you can purchase tickets here.
I really can’t express how incredibly excited I am to see this Oshawa native band. I really fell in love with this band a couple of months ago after they released their debut LP, Baby Teeth. I’d highly recommend that you purchase this record! It has such a relaxing sound to it, and it will quickly put you into a state of relaxation, a type of relaxation that makes you want to move gracefully around your bedroom. One of their singles, "Joshua", makes me feel like I am in high school all over again, having that one crush, then falling in love for the first time and eventually feeling like you got you heart ripped out of your chest. You can listen and watch the video for this beautiful song here. However, I have to say that personally, my favourite song on this record is called "Swim". There is this one line in the song that goes like this: Goodbye to my mother whose body I lived in Turned blood into water and taught me to swim This one line really gave me chills, to me it’s evocative of the challenges of growing up and creating an identity for yourself. Even though it’s the band’s first album, I have to say they have a really mature sound. Take a listen to this song here. I’d also really recommend taking a read of a recent interview that Dizzy did with Atwood Magazine, which you can read here. I haven't seen Dizzy live yet so I am really excited to see their magic unfold in front of me. I hope to see you all there! Little junior is playing with Good Kid and a couple of other bands on January 26th at the Horseshoe Tavern. This is going to be an epic night, not only because I absolutely love these two bands but it also my 24th birthday. So lets celebrate in the most Briar way possible...attending a concert.
You can purchase tickets to the class of 2019 here. I can't wait to celebrate with all of you! This Tuesday, February 6th, my friends, The Elwins, will be playing a show and then they’ll be sitting down with us to watch their favourite movie, Harold and Maude. The best part about this show is The Elwins, of course, but also that it is completely FREE! The show starts at 7:30pm at the Royal Cinema.
Indie88 has put on a couple of these show and a movie events in the past, with some of my favourite bands like Born Ruffians and Dear Rouge, but this will be my very first! I am super excited to listen to The Elwins’ new album live, since I have not had an opportunity to see them since they released their new record "Beauty Community" last October. I hope to see you all there! Hopefully there will be some popcorn... The Drums are coming to Toronto this November! They're playing at the Mod Club in Toronto.
I saw them play when I was back in grade 11 (about 6 years ago) and had such an amazing time. Their music is high energy and very easy to bounce along with them. Jonny Pierce, the lead singer, had such an amazing energy on stage with his none stop dancing from one side of the stage to the other. Since then, The Drums have had quite a struggle with staying together, as each of them has had a lot of disagreements about the direction they wanted the band to go in. Despite this, they have recently released a new album called "Abysmal Thoughts", without one of the founders of the band, Jacob Graham. According to Jacob, the reason he left the band, about a year ago, was to pursue puppetry and to focus on a new band that he recently started. I very much enjoyed their new album and I am very excited to see them live again! Take a listen to one of their new songs "Absymal Thoughts" here. Fun Fact: they were the most Shazamed band in 2009! Source: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Drums The talented Noah Gundersen is coming to play a show at The Opera House on October 15th. You can purchase your tickets here.
He will be releasing his new album, WHITE NOISE, on Septemeber 22nd. He has released a couple of songs already, just to get us all excited for his return album. My favourite song so far has been "Bad Desire". This song has a sound that's the most like his previous records, a slow indie-folk romance song. I definitely have to say that it's the genre of songs that are my favourite. You can listen to it here. His other new songs, "The Sound", and "Heavy Metal" sound much more indie-pop which is something very different than the sound from some of his previous records. I am super excited to listen to the rest of his new record and I can't wait to see him again live! The Australian band, San Cisco, is coming to the Mod Club in August! I am super pumped to see this band live! I've been in love with them since the summer before my first year of university. Their tunes are super cute, upbeat and dance friendly. Their new album is much more mature sounding than their first album but they did not lose their catchy and addictive sound. I will be dancing by butt of at their concert and I hope you will be too! You can purchase tickets here.
Take a listen to a couple of my favourite songs by San Cisco: B-Side Fred Astaire Hey, Did I Do You Wrong? The Districts are returning to Toronto on April 14th! I absolutely love this band and saw them last time they came to Toronto. They have a such a passion for music which is portrayed on stage from their high amount of energy on stage. They are also playing at Osheaga (I already bought my ticket), so if I don't see them in Toronto, I will for sure be seeing them in Montreal. If you're not going to Osheaga, I highly recommend going to see their show in Toronto at the Garrison!
ATTENTION EVERYONE! Mac Demarco is playing in Toronto on May 13th and you all have to go see him! He is the most special person on the planet and therefore, you must go watch his wonderfully hilarious and magical set at The Danforth Music Hall.
He is my idol and I strive to be a little more like him every day. I love his super laid back attitude which is really reflected in his music. He recently released two new songs off his new album. The two new songs are acoustic and are surprisingly a very different sound from his previous albums but nevertheless, they are just as wonderful to listen to. You can listen to his new song, "My Old Man" here! The Zolas are returning to Toronto on March 16th! They are playing at the Mod Club and I'm super excited to see them again! They are one of my favourite bands because of their fun, catchy tunes and Zach's super funky dance moves. You don't want to miss out!
